The historic city of Friedberg lies on the sunny side (south side) of the Wechselgebirge, nestled in a wooded hilly and mountain landscape at an altitude of 600 metres and covering an area of 25 km². Friedberg can easily be reached from Vienna (90 km) and Graz (80 km): by car via the south motorway A2 (drive time about 1 hour) and by railway (ride time about 1 hour and 20 minutes).
